Our founder, Koos Vis, immigrated in 1987 from the Netherlands to Canada to be a dairy herdsman on an Alberta dairy farm. He had a diploma in Agriculture & Dairy Farming, and rather than building a business in his home country, Canada became the land for opportunities. In 1994, Koos decided to start his own hoof trimming business, Diamond Hoof Care Ltd., to provide hoof care services to dairy cows and beef cows.
The dairy industry and the way we raise cows have changed over the last decades and also the hoof care challenges changed over time. In 1994, a cow would get trimmed because “she has long toes.” Today a cow gets trimmed, or rather “gets her hooves checked” to be sure that she continues to be ready to produce milk and remains healthy & happy.
Koos was a full-time hoof trimmer from 1994 until 2010 and part-time until 2015. He now runs Diamond Hoof Care Ltd. and has made it his mission to help clients understand and prevent lameness. Given the chance, however, he still grabs the odd cow when the need arises.

Our office
Our office is located in the hamlet of Diamond City in Alberta, Canada, but our team is located at various locations around the globe. We service our extensive North American dealer network from our office and the Quebec warehouse. We are a GMP-certified company
Since 2015, our company is certified to comply with good manufacturing practice (GMP) standards: office and warehouse alike. We have many registrations with Health Canada for DIN and VHP required products. Therefore, at regular intervals, our company’s procedures and records are inspected by Health Canada to remain compliant. These standards are important to us and the dairy industry. The agricultural industry is a part of the vital food chain and we are proud to have all ducks in order to ensure proper accountability.
